I started my career as a young scientist in the mid eighties (1986) as a crop scientist and later after my M.Sc program I worked briefly with IITA -On-Farm adaptive project as Farm Manager for about 2 years (1991-1993). Thereafter I left for University of Wales, Bangor United Kingdom for my Ph.D program with specialization in Forest Ecology and Conservation Genetics (1997). By 1997, I came back to Nigeria and worked with Forestry Institute of Nigeria (FRIN)  (1997-2005) as Ecologist and Conservation Geneticist.  I rose from Senior Research officer to Assistant Chief Research Officer before I left for the  University. I became a Professor of Forest Ecologist and Conservation Genetics in 2015 and I have worked extensively on a number of forest tree species especially savanna fruit trees and various medicinal plants. I have about 50 publications in various reputable online journals and a consultant to a number of organizations. I am member of various professional bodies and Fellow of the Forestry Association of Nigeria
