I am a Senior Scientist at the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, where I lead gender research and gender integration in the Alliance’s research and practice. I also lead the Alliances Module of the CGIAR GENDER Platform, which focuses on alliance building and capacity strengthening related to gender research. My BSc is in Biology and Environmental Sciences, and my MA and PhD are in Geography. Rooted in a feminist political ecology approach, my research focuses on gendered dimensions of forest management and restoration, local ecological knowledge(s), and forest/agri-food value chains, predominantly in West Africa and South and Central Asia. In this research, I consider synergies and tradeoffs among multiple objectives and outcomes in the management of natural resources. I am overseeing a new work package on capacity strengthening of actors working at the nexus of water, food, energy and environment as part of a new One CGIAR Initiative called 'NEXUS Gains' that focuses on the development and implementation of nexus innovations and solutions.
