Climate change-induced extreme weather events pose great challenges for farmers in Africa. Abject poverty, lack of access to fertilizers and certified seeds, and overdependence on rain have jointly created food insecurity for African smallholders, many of whom are women. These coupled with Increased incidents of annual drought and erratic rainfall have intensified the struggle. Given that almost one-quarter of the global agricultural land is in Africa, the miseries of African farmers appear unfortunate.
