SUMMARY:Webinar: Localising the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Lessons from South Africa
DESCRIPTION:Details\nTitle: Localising the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Lessons from South Africa \nDate: Aug 4\, 2020 \nTime: 2:00 PM CAT \nRegister Here \nAbout\nThe webinar will seek to explore the South African SDG landscape\, with inputs from National departments\, Metropolitan Municipalities\, Intermediary Cities\, and practitioners\, in order to draw out some key learnings and insights that could be applied elsewhere to inspire localisation of the SDGs across the African continent. Reflecting on the South African SDG localisation experience to date will serve as a case study from which lessons will be shared by a diverse panel of speakers who have first-hand experience in navigating the complexities of sustainable development. The critical role of both local and national governments in localising the SDGs\, and the need for strong multi-level governance to enable the transition to sustainability will be showcased. Through the presentations delivered\, the webinar seeks to discuss key principles for making the SDGs a reality in and around African cities. This webinar will form the first of a two-part series. The second webinar\, scheduled for 1 September 2020\, will build on the South African case study and seek to present an approach to understanding the localisation of the SDGs on the African continent more broadly.
