SUMMARY:FAO Science and Innovation Forum
DESCRIPTION:The FAO Science and Innovation Forum 2022 will take place from 17-21 October\, virtually and provide different stakeholders\, in particular from low and middle-income countries (LMICs)\, the space and opportunity to take stock of the science and evidence base and gaps\, engage in dialogues and share experiences around science-based actions and innovative solutions. Roundtables\, panel discussions\, and various interactive formats will be utilized. The Science and Innovation Forum will be preceded by independently organized side-events\, with partners and Members showcasing their innovations and insights. \nFAO Science and Innovation Forum 2022 will focus on highlighting the centrality of STI for agrifood systems transformation. The event will encourage a diversity of perspectives based on science\, thereby facilitating rationalization and inclusiveness of debate. More specifically\, the objectives are to: \n\nShare robust science and evidence-based options for more efficient\, inclusive\, resilient and sustainable agrifood systems.\nAssist countries in making informed decisions regarding the co-creation\, adaptation and adoption of appropriate and context-specific technologies and innovations.\nExplore scientific and technological advances and associated risks and opportunities.\nPromote effective science communication\, including by engaging on contentious issues.\nAnalyze options for strengthening science and evidence-based decision-making.\n\n\n\n\nExpression of interest for Side Events by 31 July 2022 \nThe expression of interest regarding a side event needs to be submitted through the appropriate form by 31 July 2022. \n Side-Event expression of interest form\n \nTIMELINE \n\n31 July 2022: Deadline for submission\n1 August- 31 August 2022: Screening\non or before 31 August 2022: The Secretariat will notify the lead organizations the feedback and status of selection of the side event\n\nPlease send the filled out form to Science-Innovation@fao.org \nThe announcement is taken from here.

SUMMARY:Extension of Deadline for Abstract Submission: 23rd WaterNet/WARFSA/GWPSA Symposium
DESCRIPTION:About: \nThe 23rd WaterNet/WARFSA/GWP-SA Symposium will be held in Rustenburg\, South Africa at the Sun City Resort\, 19 – 21 October 2022 under the theme Integrated Water Resources Management for Sustainable Development in East and Southern Africa. The North-West University is the lead host of the 23rd Symposium. \nThe Symposia have been held annually in the Eastern and Southern African regions for the past 22 years to promote interaction among policymakers\, academics\, practitioners from water and related sectors\, and cooperating partners. Together\, they identify regional issues\, gaps\, and priorities that require further research and support. Great emphasis will be placed on integration of knowledge\, particularly involving scholars from the natural and social sciences. \nThe sub-themes of the symposium have been aligned to the themes of the SADC Water Research Agenda under the Regional Strategic Action Plan on Integrated Water Resources Development and Management Phase IV\, whose main objective is:\n• Promoting evidence-based implementation of SADC water programs and projects through multi- and inter-disciplinary research\, and synthesis of existing and new information\, which will\nlead to a realization of SADC developmental goals. \nSub-themes: \nPolicymakers\, academics\, practitioners from water and related sectors\, and cooperating partners are invited to register for and attend the symposium and make use of this opportunity to listen and debate findings from presentations focused on the different sub-themes. \nAuthors wishing to present the results of their work should submit their abstracts targeting the topics detailed in the link here. \nThe deadline for abstract submission has been extended to 30 June 2022. \n  \n
